Tahiti and her neighboring islands are renowned for their
superb dive sites. Here you'll find plenty of curiously shaped
coral, a rainbow assortment of fish, and astounding undersea
plant life. The underwater attractions vary from island to
island, and many guests choose to take in a number of dive
sites. Diving can be experienced on every island and every
resort has diving options. In most places you can just walk
out from the beach and see exciting underwater life. Many
resorts have dive shops on site.
Whilst diving everywhere is great, the Tuamotos have the
reputation for being ‘the’ place. See many varieties
of colorful fish, sting rays and manta rays, sharks, dolphins,
turtles and even whales at certain times of the year. Diving
ranges from simple lagoon dives in shallow waters to experienced
drift dives and wreck diving. All levels are catered for.
See the great hard corals that form the reefs that surround
the islands.
There are some alternatives for those who want to see this
extraordinary underwater world but do not dive. On Moorea,
visitors can experience the undersea world in a miniature
submarine. Bora Bora offers an underwater walk, where visitors
age 7 and up can don a special scuba helmet and walk around
on the bottom of the beautiful lagoon!
