GENERAL HIRE CONDITIONS FOR AUSTRALIA
& NEW ZEALAND
1. Minimum Rental:
5 days (NZ) & 5 days (AU) for 2 berth. 7 days for 4 and
6 berth and one way rentals (AU). Minimum rental period is
subject to change during peak periods.
2. Licence:
A full resident country drivers licence, held for at least
one year, is to be presented at the time of rental. If the
licence is not in English format, an international drivers
licence is also required.
3. Minimum Age Limit:
The minimum age is 21 years. A medical certificate is required
for drivers over the age of 75 years.
4. Multiple Rentals:
Multiple rentals can be combined to qualify for our long-term
rate. Rentals in New Zealand and Australia can be combined
to qualify.
5. Change of Vehicle:
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable due to unforeseen
circumstances, Maui reserves the right to substitute an alternative
vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This
shall not constitute a breach of contract and no refunds will
be given.
6. Terms and Conditions
Standard Maui terms and conditions apply. Refer to rental
agreement.
7. For your protection:
Personal injury is covered through the Accident Compensation
Commission (NZ) and Registration Third Party Insurance (AU)
in most cases; however, Maui strongly recommends that all
clients take out Personal Injury Travel Insurance. All vehicles
are insured for the damage to the vehicle and to the property
of the Third Party. The renter is responsible for the first
NZ$5,000 or AU$5,000 (“the excess”) of the cost
of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle,
including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tire damage,
overhead and under body damage, towing and recovery costs.
The Excess applies in respect of each claim, not rental. This
NZ$5,000 or AU$5,000 excess can be reduced, in most cases,
by the purchase of Excess Reduction Option 1 or Option 2.
7a. Excess Reduction Option 1:
Excess Reduction 1 at NZ$20 or AU$20 per day (max charge NZ$1,000
or AU$1,000) will reduce the excess for Third Party property
or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident,
windscreen and tire damage, overhead and underbody damage
to NZ$2,500 or AU$2,500.
7b. Excess Reduction Option 2:
Excess Reduction 2 at NZ$38 or AU$38 per day (max charge NZ$1,900
or AU$1,900) will reduce the excess for all accident costs
and Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including
single vehicle accident, windscreen and tire damage, overhead
and underbody damage to NZ$0 or AU$0.
8. Vehicle Security Deposit:
On collection of the vehicle, a Vehicle Security Deposit is
payable. If you do not take Excess Reduction Option 1 or Option
2, the Security Deposit is NZ$5,000 or AU$5,000.
If Excess Reduction Option 1 is taken the Security Deposit
is NZ$2,500 or AU$2,500. If Excess Reduction Option 2 is taken
the Security Deposit is NZ$220 or AU$220. The Vehicle Security
Deposit is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned
on time, undamaged, with a clean interior and with full fuel
tanks. Additional fees will apply if vehicle is not returned
clean and tidy.
9. AUSTRALIA RENTAL CONDITIONS
9a. One Way Rentals: Available
between all branch locations. One-way rentals between Tasmania
and the mainland are on request. A One-way rental fee of AU$150
is charged, this is in addition to the Broome surcharge fee
if applicable.
9b. Rentals in Broome: An
additional remote location fee of AU$400 applies to all rentals
picking up or dropping off (or both) in Broome. Only one remote
location fee is charged per vehicle. This is in addition to
the One-Way fee if applicable.
9c. Tasmania: An airport concession
fee may be charged for rentals with pick-up or drop-off from
airport locations. An airport pick-up fee of AU$15 per rental
will apply for rentals with pick-up at Hobart Airport. This
fee is subject to change.
9d. Taxes: A charge of 2.5%
of the total cost will be levied to cover state government
taxes, duties and associated costs.
This is included in the rates.
10. NEW ZEALAND RENTAL CONDITIONS
10a. One Way Rentals: Available between all branch locations
in New Zealand. A One-way fee of NZ$150 applies to all rentals
between the North & South Islands from 01 Oct 06 –
31 Mar 07.
10b. Diesel Tax Recovery Fee:
will be calculated and collected on return of your vehicle
based on the miles traveled during your rental. The vehicle
rates per 100km are as follows:
2 Berth: Nil
2 Berth (Toilet & Shower): NZ$3.20
4 Berth: NZ$3.40
6 Berth: NZ$3.70
10c. Queenstown: For all pick-ups
and all drop-offs in Queenstown, a charge of NZ$100 will apply
(includes $12 Airport fee). If pick-up and drop-off is to
the same city, only one fee will apply.
Motorhomes cannot be requested by make
or model, only by motorhome category.
