Day 2 Sydney – Sightseeing
& Harbor Cruise
Sydney is the vibrant, cosmopolitan gateway to Australia.
With nearly 4 million people, Sydney is Australia’s
largest city. See the beauty of this exciting city on today’s
sightseeing tour and harbor cruise, a “must” for
any visit to Sydney. View the city’s famous icons, the
Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Pass the
Botanic Gardens en route to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, for
superb views of the city and harbor. See Sydney’s stately
homes and architectural masterpieces, from the historic Rocks
area with its old world charm to the exclusive Eastern Suburbs
and famous Bondi Beach. You will soon agree that Sydney is
one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
Day 3 Sydney – Blue Mountains
4WD Luxury Tour
The Blue Mountains offer a natural wonderland of untamed bush,
spectacular rock formations and native wildlife. From the
village of Leura, skirt around Cliff Drive to Katoomba, looking
out over the magnificent Jamison Valley (Australia’s
Grand Canyon) and the Three Sisters. We enter the bush for
a barbeque lunch of sizzling steaks, sausages, fresh salads
and local wines. We then drop into a hidden valley to see
and hear the Australian wildlife in its natural habitat before
returning to Sydney around 5:30pm. (L)
Day 4 Sydney – Ayers Rock
Transfer to Sydney Airport for your flight to Ayers Rock (flight,
own expense). Depart mid afternoon for Kata Tjuta (the Olgas),
made up of 36 separate domes, some standing 660 feet higher
than Uluru (Ayers Rock). Walk between the mysterious dome
formations then relax with a glass of wine and experience
a magical sunset.
Accommodation: Ayers Rock, Outback
Pioneer (Standard), Desert Gardens (First Class), Sails in
the Desert (Deluxe) for two nights.
Day 5 Ayers Rock at Sunrise
Up early to view sunrise over Ayers Rock (Uluru), the world’s
biggest monolith, followed by a base tour of the Rock (51/2
miles around the base). Ayers Rock is particularly beautiful
first thing in the morning. View Aboriginal art and cave galleries
as the desert comes alive—an experience like no other.
(It is possible to climb Uluru, though the local Aboriginal
community would prefer that people didn’t. Should guests
wish to make the climb, a good level of fitness is required.)
Day 6 Ayers Rock – Cairns
At leisure until you transfer to the airport for your flight
to Cairns (flight, own expense). If time allows you may like
to join a half day tour. In Cairns you will be met and transferred
to your hotel. Accommodation: Cairns,
Cairns Colonial Club (Standard), Tradewinds International
(First Class), Sofitel Reef Casino (Deluxe) for three nights.

coral cay where coral gardens abound with a myriad of marine
life surrounding a protected seabird sanctuary—a haven
for nature lovers. Enjoy a full-day “Ocean Spirit”
cruise to Michaelmas Cay, a low-lying vegetated sand cay and
National Park. View the unique marine environment of the Great
Barrier Reef on a guided snorkeling tour and a coral viewing
tour by semi-submersible boat. Lunch is included. Enjoy a
complimentary glass of champagne on your sail to Cairns. (L)
Day 8 Cairns – Kuranda
Excursion
Enjoy the best of Kuranda today including both the scenic
Kuranda Rail and Skyrail, with breathtaking views from reef
to rainforest. Travel through tunnels and gorges on one of
the world’s great rail trips to Kuranda, the village
in the rainforest. Time to explore (market days Wed-Fri &
Sun) before boarding Skyrail, a gondola cableway, to glide
over the rainforest canopy. Discover Aboriginal culture at
the world renowned Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, where
a lavish buffet lunch is included. Transfer to hotel. (L)
